My range of Heritage veg has come from my love for gardening and allotment growing. Since I was a child helping my grandad on his allotment, I have loved all the wonderful old varieties that are available. My aim, along with Dobies, is to give you the chance to grow some of the older and rarer varieties that have stood the test of time and taste how veg used to.

Kohlrabi (from the German for cabbage turnip; Brassica oleracea Gongylodes Group), also called German turnip, is a biennial vegetable, a low, stout cultivar of wild cabbage. It is the same species as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, Savoy cabbage, and gai lan. It can be eaten raw or cooked. Edible preparations are made with both the stem and the leaves.

With right timing, gardeners can get two crops of kohlrabi per season – Because kohlrabi prefers cool weather, planting the seeds too late in the season results in a woody.

as the white-fleshed ‘Korridor’ and ‘Korist’ and the giant-type ‘Superschmelz.’
